Summer is well and truly here which means day parties and festivals are incoming! This feature of The Motif Calendar will cover the hottest urban events in Ireland over the next 2 weeks. So get ready to (hopefully) feel the sun on your skin and enjoy the vibes.

I am so excited to say that the day parties are finally making a return with 2 fabulous events this Saturday, 27th May.
Hip Hop and R&B Rooftop Brunch Party
Get your best Hawaiian shirts and dresses out of the wardrobe for a rooftop brunch, brought to you by Chicken N’ Waffles. This 2 part event sold out today but those lucky enough to cop tickets will be able to enjoy a Brunch event with food, drinks and music and elite afterparty, both taking place at the Hyde rooftop.

What’s All The Racket?
Outstraight Records are doing what they do best and bringing us original hip hop vibes for this event which is taking place at The Bernard Shaw. There will be plenty of things happening at What’s All The Racket, including; live street art and performances from the labels finest talents. If that’s not enough to encourage you to go, tickets are FREE, but you must reserve your spot through Eventbrite.

KAMILE – 50:50
DJ Wax and DJ KO are back to take over Bow Lane to bring us the best in Hip Hop, Afrobeat and R&B. You already know the drill with this one, over 21s for the ladies and over 23s for the guys.

UshUsh – Ladies Night
Deejay T and DJ Ricky T are returning to Farrier and Draper for a night of music, games and cocktails. As it is Ladies Night, any of the ladies celebrating their birthday in May will get free entry for the night so dress to impress and make sure to have your ID with you!

Made in Africa: Africa Day Afterparty
Banger Events are hosting an official Africa Day afterparty in Kino, Cork City, this Saturday, 27th May. Make sure to go home and put on your dancing shoes after a family fun day of events in Fitzgerald park. Expect to vibe to the hottest of Afrobeats, Amapiano, Hip Hop and more. Native dress is accepted but not essential.

Launch Party: All Black Theme
Waterford is in for a treat this Saturday with Dior Event’s Launch Party. Get down to Nduna Lounge for a night of dancing, food, shisha and cocktails! There will be music from DJ Hashadee and DJ Smoove. You will also be treated to some special guests on the night.

Wild Roots
Wild Roots is taking over Sligo from the 2nd to the 4th June. This festival is the ultimate experience as you immerse yourself into the woods for performances spread across multiple genres. You can also participate in workshops, get involved in arts and crafts and even adventure on boat tours or hikes. There are limited tickets available so make sure to secure yours now.

Forbidden Fruit
The Royal Hospital, Kilmainham is set to be buzzing on Saturday 3rd and Sunday 4th of June with Forbidden Fruit. This diverse festival will showcase the hottest international and homegrown acts. This will be the 10th instalment of the highly anticipated festival. It is great to see the transition of the line up and the growth of slots for Irish acts.

Five Palm Entertainment – Launch Party
Get down to Tramline on Friday 2nd June for the official Launch Party brought to you by Five Palm Entertainment. DJ Dacosta and DJ Lola will be bringing you the best of Afrobeat, Dancehall, Francophone and more. This over 21s event is set to be a lit night with special guest performances to be announced soon.

Mayfair – Annual All White Party
Mayfair are back with their Annual All White Party at The Grand Social on Saturday, 3rd June. Get ready to vibe with DJ Ahmed and guest DJs as they play Afrobeats, Amapiano, Dancehall and more. It is mandatory for guests to wear a white outfit.

Blurred Hip Hop/R&B/Afrobeat/Dance
It wouldn’t be a bank holiday weekend without a Sunday Motive. Head to The DL Bar and Restaurant on Sunday 4th June for a brand new night, Blurred. This is set to be an interesting night of vibes “where the boundaries between genres fade away and the beats take control”. Tickets for this event are free but make sure to reserve your ticket on Eventbrite.
